It's A Long Way To TEOTWAWKI*

One good thing about digital cameras is that even if you've dragged your feet transferring photos from camera to computer, information like when the shots were taken automatically pops up too. So at least I know for sure that it was back in January this year when M's and I did a day trip out to Kyneton to see an exhibition by Andy Hutson, who happens to be the brother of one of M's workmates. The unique thing about what he does is that it's all paper mache (and from what we saw, all done to scale!) and if you go to his blog, there are some posts where he documents his works in progress, which I imagine must be a whole lot of fun to construct, albeit incredibly time consuming and messy (read: more fun!).
Although the exhibition was all about *The End Of The World As We Know It, it sure got you thinking without being over-the-top in terms of being bleak or ominous. Having said that, taking another look at the driverless van (entirely to scale) with its lights on, it is kind of creepy.
And just because you're out of central Melbourne, it doesn't mean that you escape the foodie culture. Kyneton's main stretch of shops and cafes does a good trade and having the munchies, we mosied over to Mr Carsisi, which from what I remember, is actually a little further up the road from the main eateries. It looked quite new when we visited, and we were lucky enough to grab a spot outdoors on the shaded verandah to enjoy a drop and some eats, not to mention this seriously nasty dessert (just imagine cutting a slice of baklava in half and sticking a big slab of Turkish Delight ice cream in the middle) which, for that matter, has appeared elsewhere.
